iCo Therapeutics Inc. is a Vancouver-based development based company focused on in-licensing drugs with clinical history redosing or reformulating for new or expanded indications. iCo has exclusive worldwide rights to three products. iCo-007, a second generation antisense candidate licensed from Isis Pharmaceuticals, is currently in a Phase I trial in Diabetic Macular Edema patients. iCo-008 is a human monoclonal antibody targeting eotaxin-1 with Phase II clinical history, licensed from AstraZeneca/MedImmune. iCo-009 is a proprietary oral formulation of amphotericin B licensed from the University of British Columbia. To date, iCo has reported positive preclinical results for iCo-009.

Company Strategy

iCos development only business model aims to reduce the risk, time and cost of developing therapeutics by avoiding the uncertainty associated with research stage of drug development. Instead, the Company focuses on its resources on critical aspects of the clinical drug development process, including the design and conduct of clinical trials, the development and execution of strategies for the protection and maintenance of intellectual property rights and interaction with drug regulatory authorities.

Programs

iCo-007 is a second generation antisense compound in-licenced from Isis Pharmaceuticals, Inc. that reduces levels of a key protein, C-Raf Kinase, which may be associated with diabetic retinopathy, including diabetic macular edema ("DME"). iCo-007 is nearing completion of a Phase I clinical trial for DME.

iCo-008 is a human monoclonal antibody in-licenced from Medimmune Limited that shows promise for the treatment of sight threatening forms of allergic conjunctivitis by neutralizing eotaxin-1, a ligand to the chemokine receptor CCR3. Recently eotaxin has also been implicated in choroidal neovascularization in human AMD.

iCo-009 is an experimental oral formulation of Amphotericin B (AmpB) currently being developed at the University of British Columbia for the treatment of systemic fungal and parasitic diseases.

Presenter Bio

Mr. Rae is President and CEO of iCo Therapeutics, Inc., an ocular development company he co-founded in 2005. Andrew has spent a decade in the biotechnology industry, formerly as CFO with Ability Biomedical Corporation (Irvine CA, Vancouver BC), acquired by Medarex, Inc. in 2004. Mr. Rae has also served as Vice President, Finance & Corporate Affairs at Active Pass Pharmaceuticals (Vancouver BC). Mr. Rae has raised approximately $25M in venture financing, engaged in a successful cross-border M&A transaction, and played a significant role in shaping multiple business development deals (Cambridge Antibody, Isis Pharmaceuticals, Medarex).
