LAB Research (TSX: LRI) was started in Laval, Quebec, in 1998, became a publicly traded entity listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange in 2002 and was later on spun-off from its then parent Company, LAB International. LAB Research completed its initial public offering (IPO) in August 2006 and its shares commenced trading under the symbol "LRI" on that date. Between 2002 and 2006, LAB's global capacity grew from 84,000 to 307,000 sq. ft., mainly through the acquisition of LAB Hungary in July 2003 and LAB Denmark in February 2005. During that period, the number of employees increased from 110 to more than 450 and revenues from $11 million to $47 million.Following its successful IPO, LAB Research embarked into an ambitious 3-year, $65 million expansion plan of all its facilities to achieve critical mass in both capacity and service offerings in order to position LAB as a one-stop shop lab that could appeal to a much broader clientele. Following the recent completion of its expansion program, LAB Research significantly increased its revenue and EBITDA generation capacity. By increasing scale and service breadth, it significantly expanded its target audience, thus making it a clear and viable alternative to the industry global leaders. The available site capacity now totals 156,000 sq. ft. in Montreal and 93,000 sq. ft. and 164,000 sq. ft. for its Danish and Hungarian facilities respectively.LAB Research is now known as a leading global non-clinical contract research organization that provides a full contract research services offering to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, agro-chemical, petro-chemical and industrial markets.LAB operates in the global CRO market estimated at US $18.6 billion and expected to grow at a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 12.2 % to US $29.4 billion by 2011. The preclinical market represents the most lucrative and fastest growing segment of the CRO industry. LAB Research provides substantially all of the Investigational New Drug (IND) and Phase II, III enabling non-clinical services helping its clients move a drug candidate from early to late stage clinical trials. LAB Research's services include amongst others General Toxicology, Safety Pharmacology, Genetic Toxicology, Immuno Toxicology, Ecotoxicology, Bio/Analytical Chemistry, Reproductive Toxicology, Drug Metabolism and Inhalation Toxicology.Having recently completed the global expansion of its sites leading to a significant broadening of its service offering, LAB is now perfectly positioned to attract a wide range of new business and experience significant revenues growth without the need for any new additional investment.LAB Research currently employs more than 540 employees and supports the development of its customers' products from three state-of-the-art facilities located in Canada, Denmark and Hungary.
