IntelGenx Corp. is a drug delivery company specializing on oral drug delivery. The company has three platform technologies that it uses for the development of its products: Its VersaTab layered tablet technology uses controlled erosion of erodible cover layers to achieve controlled release of an active. The Versafilm oral film technology is used to achieve rapid onset of action through oral absorption of a drug, and the AdVersa mucoadhesive tablet technology is intended for the controlled release and absorption of actives through the oral mucosa.

Company Strategy

IntelGenx develops pharmaceutical products based on its proprietary drug delivery technology and licenses the commercial rights to pharmaceutical companies once the viability of the product has been established. The company offers a comprehensive portfolio of pharmaceutical services to its industry partners and has recently entered into strategic partnership agreements with Pillar5 Pharma and LTS Lohmann Therapy Systems for the commercial manufacturing of its products.

Intellectual Property

The company is pursuing an aggressive IP strategy and currently has three issued patents and seven pending applications in its IP portfolio.

Programs

The project pipeline of the company currently includes 11 active development programs. The first product - Gesticare, a prescription prenatal vitamin combination - was launched in 2008. A 505(b)(2) NDA for its antidepressant is currently under review at the FDA. The company plans to submit three more applications to the FDA within the next 12 months.

Presenter Bio

Horst G. Zerbe, Ph.D., President and CEO; Prior to founding IntelGenx, he served as the president of Smartrix Technologies Inc. in Montreal, and as Vice President of R&D at LTS Lohmann Therapy Systems in West Caldwell, NJ. He holds over 40 patents in drug delivery related fields and has published numerous scientific papers in recognized journals.
