IRI Separation Technologies Inc.

Presenter: John Mason, President & CEO

Company Overview

IRI Separation Technologies Inc. (TSXV: IRI) is a biotechnology company specializing in the extraction, development and commercialization of broad spectrum (polyclonal) antibodies, or immunoglobulin (Ig) for use as an over-the-counter nutraceutical. The company has developed a proprietary process for extracting antibodies from liquids such as egg yolks. Currently, IRI is the only known company in the world with the capability to cost effectively extract and supply Ig in enough quantities and in a high enough concentration to justify mass production.

Product Overview

Immunoglobulins are powerful antibodies produced in healthy humans and other animals to fight infections and prevent disease. They are the most direct and practical method of strengthening immune systems, increasing the body’s natural ability to resist diseases and reducing dependency on drugs like antibiotics. Up until now, extracting them for use as a nutraceutical has been enormously difficult and prohibitively expensive. Using IRI’s proprietary process, the company extracts Ig antibodies from egg yolks. The result of this process is a dried powder which is then made into pills or capsules.

Investment Highlights

Significant Sales agreement
IRI has entered into a five years sales contract with Lakota Antibody Products Inc. In June 2006, the contract was increased with Lakota agreeing to purchase a minimum of 60,000 kilograms of Ig annually at a price of CDN$300 per kilogram for an estimated CDN$18 million per year. Additionally, the contract was expanded to include Ig specifics which will be purchased at a cost of 200 percent of the total cost of production.

Business Model and Manufacturing Process
IRI has developed a unique business model in which one of the critical aspects is building out it’s manufacturing process and creating strong manufacturing efficiencies. IRI has recently acquired 100 percent ownership in the property, plant and equipment, associated contracts and intellectual property of an egg breaking facility, protein separation facility and research group with expertise in specific, or monoclonal, antibody development.

IRI has also acquired full ownership of a specialty manufacturer of mixes utilizing egg yolk byproducts. This relationship allows IRI to fix its raw material price and also serves as a cost recovery center that brings benefit from a waste product.

Wide Range of Opportunities in Large Markets
IRI Separation’s proprietary process for extracting Ig is extremely valuable across a number of other market opportunities including the agricultural, aquaculture, and veterinary industries. The company is currently putting into place methods to produce specific antibodies that should carry a price of 3 to 4 times that of general antibodies.
