Company Profile
Cell NetwoRx LLC is a privately held, early stage biopharmaceutical company based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Cell NetwoRx was founded to leverage its proprietary multi-target cell based assay platform in the discovery and development of small molecule drugs that act on its proprietary angiogenesis target pathway for the treatment of eye disease in our aging population. The drug discovery process is driven by Cell NetwoRx’s unique cell based assay technology, the Pathway Assay Matrix (PAM™). In order to maximize shareholder value, Cell NetwoRx intends to initially apply the technology to one specific target pathway: angiogenesis. Our proprietary assay platform and disease target are protected by multiple pending patents worldwide, enabling novel paths to new medicines. At the same time, the company intends to partner PAM™ technology, on a selective basis, to pharmaceutical partners. Application of PAM’s multiple pathway technology to drug lead identification and optimization will result in the discovery of more effective drugs, reduced drug discovery timelines, and stronger patent protection.
Science and Technology
Aberrant angiogenesis is a biology that has been implicated in numerous serious human diseases, such as cancer and eye disease. Due to the complex target redundancy and multiple pathways which characterize this biology, angiogenesis is well suited for initial application of the PAM™ technology platform. Our proprietary drug target is implicated in neovascular disease of the eye, wound healing and tumor progression but may also prove an important target in inflammation and ischemic disorders. Cell NetwoRx’s early progress in technology development and lead identification has been funded through private investment and the National Institute of Health’s competitive SBIR grant process.
As a first priority, Cell NetwoRx will seek to develop and commercialize a novel therapeutic for treatment of age related macular degeneration (AMD) and follow with a program in one cancer indication. We are integrating patient disease target biomarkers into cell models utilizing PAM™ to provide a more relevant screening platform for lead identification and optimization. The PAM™ technology platform goes beyond merely confirming the presence of disease using biomarkers; it quantitatively measures the functional activity of 8 or more target nodes in the pathways involved in disease, thus differentiating itself from proteomics and genomics approaches. Cell NetwoRx has already identified two novel classes of small molecule leads that are currently undergoing lead optimization with our chemistry partner. We will also extend the PAM™ capabilities to other disease pathways and offer a unique service to our pharmaceutical partners.
